  Been there many times for Family Events. Even planned my Son's first communion party...but let me tell you what happened....
  
  I had made a reservation for about 26 people in late January 2017 for MAY 27th, 2017. It was accepted without a deposit. I had to make a substantial reduction in the count to about 4 people. This was a difficult decision I made in person and was very apologetic. This was made on and around of April 10th ( a notable date is Croatian 20th Century History ). At the time of making this change, at no time was I asked to provide a deposit. When I left, I was deeply apologetic and with the owner, we both felt there would be adequate time for him to be able to make up the shortfall.
  
  On May 9th, the owner/manager left a disappointing message that my reservation for 4 had been cancelled because someone (most likely him), took a reservation for 30 people. This was a cold move and very unprofessional to leave a message. Very typical of a those in business who are very insulting to their patrons as soon as they pay their bill.
  
  I call back trying to get a reasonable response to such a callous message. I was told firstly that my reservation for May 21st was being cancelled because 30 people have taken my spot (My reservation was explicitly May 27 and I saw it when I personally made the visit to this establishment to apologize for the original booking - it appears that the person was confused and knew they were too hasty in cancelling - more about that later). Furthermore, the owner made it seem that it was my fault to begin with - I was to blame for the original reduction in guests! Imagine that! Better yet, as they were speaking to me on the phone, they were very combative and raising their voices to un-controllable levels. When I tried to respond, they hung up on me. They were communicating on a speaker phone and I wonder if there were other guests there that could hear this discussion - really bad practices.
  
  I called back again to state I would like a face to face. On the phone was the manager/owner and a woman who chastised me for not leaving a deposit and for this initial disruption. Again when I tried to respond, they hung up on me. Number 2!
  
  Lastly, after about 2 hours, I called again requesting what they would do for me. Magically 2 seats *(a bit too hasty to cancel in the original conversation) were available that same evening and I stated that was not good enough. Exasperated, the owner told me never to call back.
  
  Listen folks, I grew up in the neighbourhood (about 2 km from the current restaurant - before it was established and when the original Croatia Club was formed). We have been proud Croatians growing up in the 70s where we had to take our lumps from the dominant groups at the time. My family name has reputation from the community halls across this country, the US, and Australia (most of the Croatians know me as Forrest Gump because I rode and camped my way with a bicycle through the toughest terrain from the Northern Territories-Queensland-NSW-Victoria to visit our People and experience their form of our diaspora.
  
  It is incredulous that this has happened and that we eat our own. I can't say the same about the quality of the menu as the times I ate their it was acceptable.

  Amazing Croatian food and great service. Order a meat or fish platter if part of a big group. Schnitzel and Cevapi are delicious!
